3rd Grade Learning Extensions
In Third Grade, we are reading and discussing our novel Skinnybones in class. In class on 12/10, we will participate in the Hour of Code by creating a Christmas Card on Scratch. I think they should have a lot of fun learning to do computer programming.
At home this week, I would like for students to work on Khan Academy to reach their goal of 50% mastery of 3rd grade goals by Christmas break. Students who reach this goal by Wednesday 12/17 will get to eat lunch in the classroom with me and play games.
Currently, we have one student who has reached this goal and three who are really close. If students get on Khan academy for 15-20 minutes each day, they should be able to reach this goal.
If you would like to know how close your child is to reaching their goal, feel free to contact Mrs. Pogue.

2nd Grade College Research Presentations
The T-shirts were super! The children were so excited to share their creativity and hard work. I appreciate each family for working with their child to learn about the research process.

1st and 2nd Grade Week of 12/8 and 12/15
Just a reminder our GT Field Trip will be on Tuesday 12/9. Please be sure your child arrives at school on time and is dressed appropriately for the weather. Unless your child is getting a lunch at school, they will need to bring a sack lunch. I do prefer sack lunches instead of lunch boxes so we can just throw away what isn't eaten.
If you are chaperoning, you will receive information about your groups, on Monday.
This week, we talked about holiday traditions in North America. Of course we are most familiar with the customs of the U.S.A. Over the next week, I'd like you and your family to learn of a custom from Canada in Mexico that might be different from ours here in the U.S.A.
Here are a couple of links that might help you out:
Christmas in Canada
Christmas in Mexico
Please have your child write about their two facts in their GT journals and bring to class on Thursday, December 11th.
Don't forget about the latest Khan Academy Challenge:
Lunch in the Classroom Challenge. Students who reach the following goals on Khan Academy will get to eat lunch in the classroom and play games the week before Christmas Break.
